Purpose

Structuring a problem for finite element analysis (FEA) is an unnatural skill. It is unlike how engineers would typically structure a problem for analytical solutions. In short, FEA is a learnt skill.

Being competent in a skill requires one to transform a learnt skill into their habit. Habituation (the process of building a habit) requires extensive practice and repetition of the same task, it also requires you to keep referring to the learning materials that you have already read many times.

Engineers who have experience in FEA will certainly have come across reading FE theories written by experts or software providers. These materials often have a few things in common; they are thick, long-winded and difficult to find what you need - this makes habituation an extremely painful process.

Using easy-to-read titles, this Blog aims at everyone with an interest in FEA. You can be anyone from a beginner, an experienced materials engineer, to even an experienced FE analyst who needs just a quick refresher on a small but concentrated topic. We hope our growing number of blog posts can help you to habituate FEA. Please do leave me a comment if you find this Blog useful or to give me some topics suggestions if you wish.

Stay tuned.
